MATERIALS

Acrylic

  • Clear material that resembles glass
  • Acrylic is also offered in various colors
  • Weighs 50% less than glass of equal thickness
  • Easy to fabricate
  • Bonds well with adhesives & solvents
  • Superior weathering properties
  • Outstanding strength & stiffness
  • Used in eye-catching retail store fixtures
  • Used for durable signs and skylights

Edge-Lit Acrylic

  • Edge-lit is a clear acrylic that when lit from the side, diffuses and allows a uniform illumination of its edges and laser engravings.
  • Edge-lit acrylic offers all the impact strength and weather resistance of cast acrylic.
  • Ideal material for evenly illuminating a transparent surface with LEDs.

EPVC

  • Expanded Polyvinyl Chloride
  • Brands: Sintra, Komatex, Celtec, etc.
  • A versatile and durable product
  • Lightweight, closed cell, free foam sheet
  • Rigid exterior and matte finish
  • Ideal for POP displays, signage, & kiosks
  • Ideal for dimensional lettering, & display boards
  • Considered robust for outdoor use

PETG

  • Polyethylene Terephthalate Glycol
  • Advantages of polycarbonate at lower cost
  • Stronger impact strength than acrylic
  • More easily scratched
  • Naturally translucent but may be colored
  • Significant chemical resistance
  • Durable & formable for manufacturing
  • Easy to die cut or CNC

Polycarbonate

  • Virtually unbreakable plastic
  • Polycarbonate is 250x stronger than a pane of glass
  • Highly shatter resistant
  • Not as clear as acrylic
  • Can be worked, molded, and thermoformed
  • Can be easily scratched
  • Ideal replacement for windows
  • Used for security panels or displays

Acrylic Tubing

  • Acrylic tubes or rods are used in toys, POP displays, product design, museum displays, lighting and in many other applications.
  • Available in multiple colors as well

Foam Board

  • Foam boards are a rigid substrate with a polystyrene core
  • Many options in facings, core materials and grades
  • Staples of the sign and graphics industry
  • Lightweight, versatile and can be printed

Corrugated Plastic

  • Fluted polypropylene plastic substrate
  • Weather, stain resistant and lightweight
  • Used for packaging, signage, skid protection, arts and crafts, political or other types of temporary signs, etc.

HDPE

  • High Density Polyethylene
  • High strength-to-density ratio
  • Harder and opaque
  • Can withstand higher temperatures
  • Lightweight yet super-strong
  • It’s impact resistant
  • Long lasting & weather resistant
  • Resists mold, mildew, rotting, and insects
  • Easily machined

ABS

  • Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene
  • Eco-friendly plastic option
  • A recycled plastic compound
  • More durable & longer lasting then EPVC
  • Strong resistance to corrosive chemicals
  • Strong resistance to physical impacts
  • Low melting temperature
  • Easily machined

Aluminum Laminated Panels

  • Aluminum laminated panels are typically constructed of two face sheets and a rigid polystyrene foam which are bonded together.
  • Have been widely used in aircraft, automotive, marine and other structural applications for a long time.
  • A wide variety of options are available to you.
  • Delivers the same impact and appeal as metal, but in a lightweight durable & versatile foam-center.

Diffuser Material

  • In optics, a diffuser is any material that diffuses or scatters light in some manner to transmit soft light.
  • Plastic light diffuser sheets, such as heat-stable polyester varieties, can withstand high light temperatures.
  • Different textures and colors available

Various Other Materials

  • DCI also works with various materials including but not limited to:
    • Metal
    • Laminate
    • Wood
    • Rubber

STANDARD WHITE ACRYLIC OPTIONS

3015, 7508, 7328 and 2447 Differences

  • White #3015 or #7508 is classified as a near opaque Plexiglas sheet
  • White #7328 is a solid sheet, but will allow some light through (translucent) It is an excellent choice for applications that need to be back lit, such as back lighted signs or displays.
  • White #2447 will also allow some light through (more than white #7328).
  • White #2447 has a slight milky white look to it and is often used for applications that need to be back lit, but which need more light to transmit through the material (for example: photo light tables, lighted drawing tables, x-ray chart readers, overhead lights, skylights).
